In addition to providing free education to the children, Nachiketa Tapovan in its premises also conducts a free dispensary every Sunday for the locals to have themselves treated to small ailments.
This was started after noticing that most children who come to the school and their parents do not have access to basic medical facilities.
The dispensary is visited by doctors who are general physicians who examine the general health of the children. Cost of treatment and medicines is free for all those who visit the camp. The school also has conducted specialized medical camps for eye check-up and similar programmes since the last few years. We have noticed that access to primary healthcare has helped in the children maintaining better cleanliness and hygiene in their homes, thus increasing their attendance in schools. The senior children in school volunteer to help the doctors in administering basic medicine to the patients. The children also create awareness about the medical camps in their localities. Contribution for the dispensary is welcome. The weekly cost of providing medicines is Rs 5,000.
